Post-Workshop, Pre-Exams; Happy Holidays!

Updated 7 Aug 2002 19:42 by Dave Tran

Thanks for making the Queen's Swing Club a success and more fun than we've ever imagined! Happy Holidays and drive safely!

We have Solomon's workshop notes. Check the workshop site for the updated version.

They'll be useful in jogging your memory, although all the detailed stuff should be in your heads or in your body somewhere. If you would like to add or otherwise edit the notes and would like to submit them to the website, make a copy and send them to the club. The more, the better!

Lindy Hop Workshop with Solomon and Rebecca!

Updated 11 Nov 2001 18:37 by Dave Tran

Here it is, the announcement you've all been waiting for! The details have finally been ironed out regarding our workshop on Dec 1 and 2, 2001.

Many of you will remember Solomon Douglas (from Toronto) coming to teach a Queen's Swing Club workshop last year with his partner, Alana Hock. Well, Solomon, who now lives in Cleveland, is coming back to teach a 2-day workshop with a wonderful follower from Cleveland, Rebecca Kelm!

Not only do we have 2 days full of exciting classes, but we're also having 2 dances, one on Friday night (with a DJ in Wallace Hall) and one on Saturday night with the Spencer Evans at Dunn's Famous Deli.

Information and Registration can be found at the workshop website.

What A Blast!

Updated 1 Oct 2001 18:36 by Dave Tran

Our first band nite of the year was a success as Pat Murray belted out some very fine music.

We thank all of you who came out to the dance and made it a night to remember. We had no idea how many guests came in from out of town! If you can offer some suggestions on what you would like to see and do for our next big event, send us an email.

We'll be posting photos of the dance as soon as we get them developed! If you would like to send us some photos, please email the web manager and he'll put them up on the site.

Friday Street Party at the Frosh Week Sidewalk Sale!

Updated 7 Sep 2001 18:32 by Dave Tran

Time: Fri 7 Sep, 9:00am-5:00pm
Place: University Street, on campus.

We need tons of help to put this on! We'll be starting our membership drive and our advertising blitz to prepare for this event. The sidewalk sale is always a great time. I've already booked a massive sound system and you'll hear fresh new grooves for our first event of the year! Don't miss it for anything (unless you're lucky enough to have the cash for the workshops).

Please email us if you want to help out with the street party. All we really need are people to dance, hand out flyers, and talk to newbies about the club.

Blues Festival

Updated 23 Aug 2001 17:57 by Dave Tran

It's Blues Festival time again and if you're in K-town it's time to get those moves on. Last year it really suprised us to hear so much great music that we could dance to. Check the schedule for details. If you're going out tonight or this weekend, or if you've heard some of these performers, let us know!

QSC Members back from Montreal

Updated 10 Jul 2001 17:54 by Dave Tran

Kim, Laura, Juergen, Megan and Paul enjoyed a fun dance-filled week at Montréal during the Montréal International Jazz Festival and of course, Fred's Swing Camp. We can't wait to hear all the details from them!

Expect to see a new workshop section in the QSC website. You will find information on upcoming swing dance workshops and detailed notes from workshops that club members have attended. We're going to have a huge section on the Montréal swing camp (even huge-er than the Fuccillo Auto Mall)!
